Recirculating Deep Water Culture (or RDWC for short) is a variant of the traditional Deep Water Culture hydroponic method. The innovation lies in the increased oxygen flow in the nutrient solution and the fact that the water flows sideways, circulating the plant roots before ending back into the reservoir. This is possible by adding an inline water pump into the bucket.
These oxygen pumps are also present in traditional DWC systems, but there are some key differences between the two. In DWC systems, the nutrient-rich water stays in the root chamber until manually remixed, while in RDWC, the solution flows seamlessly between root chambers. This constant movement ensures better oxygenation and keeps the pH balance in check.
Like all living beings, your plants love more access to oxygen and nutrients. As RDWC offers better access to both, the results regarding root and plant growth are notable.
